SWAMI VISHNUDEVANANDA'S VISION
In 1967, Swami Vishnudevananda sat in meditation on the undeveloped land of Paradise Island, while the rising sun illuminated a large rock located just before him. Experiencing the serene energy of the verdant forest, the power of the churning ocean waves, and the warmth of the golden Caribbean sunlight, he experienced a powerful vision of a future time marked by intense strife and fragmentation.
In his vision the world was set afire and its people were fleeing in all directions. Humanity would realize that by holding hands and uniting across boundaries, borders and identities, they could see create a future secured in love, compassion, equality, peace, justice and harmony for all sentient beings on the planet.
Inspired by this vision, Swami Vishnu established the Sivananda Teacher Training program specifically to develop future leaders of humanity to serve this very special time. Today there are over 45K graduates prepared to spread the teachings of yoga.
The Covid-19 Virus, and it's ensuing realizations, may be Swami Vishnudevananda's vision coming to bear. In a very short time this historic pandemic has stopped the planet entirely, forcing people indoors to reflect upon who we have become, to experience our unquestionable interconnectedness, and to declare a more peaceful way for humanity to live.
While this virus has brought a great awakening, it has also brought loss and hardship to many. The Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas has been affected by losing its main source of income with no quick solutions for recovery. The staff is working diligently to move programs online, but this is not enough to cover the fixed expenses of maintaining the ashram and the small group of dedicated swamis and brahmacharis still living there.
After 50 years of selfless giving and supporting others in becoming their fullest expression, they now need help to recover the losses of this time, and reestablish Swami Vishnudevananda's commitment to support the establishment of the next great humanity.
If every person who has been touched by Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat were to donate $108 the Ashram would be protected and thrive into the next generation.
We ask you to generously support in whatever way you can, knowing that you can contribute towards this $108 per person goal. Assure the vibrancy and legacy of this organization that has done so much to prepare us for this moment, and still has so much to do.
